Dan Mead has over 33 years of experience in public accounting. He has an additional nine years of experience in taxation and audit as an IRS field agent and as an internal auditor with an oil company.
Dan has practiced public accounting as both a sole proprietor and as a partner in public accounting firms. In 2007, Dan merged his practice with Mikel and Kate Shelton. In his capacity as partner with Shelton, Mead & Shelton, Dan specializes in tax planning for individuals and businesses, with particular focus on medical and dental practices and members of the clergy.
Dan also has extensive experience in representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service, business valuation consulting and litigation support. He has served as an expert witness for divorce cases and dispute cases regarding the sales of businesses, and has prepared formal fair market valuations for businesses and for asset allocation in divorce settlements. He has also presented seminars at universities and local professional associations on taxation and business valuation topics.
Dan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). He has served as President of the Mid-Cities Association of Certified Public Accountants and on several committees of the Fort Worth Chapter of the TSCPA.
Dan graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (major in Accounting) in 1971 and obtained his license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Texas in 1976. Dan served nine years in the U.S. Air Force; four as an active duty airman and five in the Air Force Reserve, and is a Vietnam veteran.
Dan lives in Arlington, TX, where in his free time he enjoys time with his wife, two daughters and their families. He also enjoys traveling to Maine in the summer to go fishing.
